A great business idea and the motivation to pursue it is just the start for many
entrepreneurs. The real work begins when an entrepreneur must learn the tricks of
the trade in order to get their ideas and projects off the ground and into profitability.
One of the most important tools an entrepreneur can use to master these tricks is a
sales funnel. A sales funnel is a series of steps a potential customer takes to go from
being aware of your product or service to purchasing it and becoming a repeat
customer.
A sales funnel can help an entrepreneur to understand what parts of their marketing
and sales processes are working and what areas need improvement. They are able
to see which pages are attracting the most customers, what type of content they are
responding best to and what products or services are getting the most conversions.
With this knowledge, a business can improve its online presence and optimize its
revenue.
To create a successful sales funnel an entrepreneur must begin by identifying their
target audience. This can be done through surveys, demographic research and
tracking traffic patterns on their websites. Then they must determine what type of
content will appeal to their audience and which channels they are using to find it. For
example, a potential customer may find your website via social media and then visit
your blog. From here, they may be directed to a landing page where they can
download your ebook and sign up for your email list. From this point, you can begin
converting these leads into sales.
In the middle of the funnel, a potential customer will be evaluating your product or
service to see whether it is right for them. To do this they will need to be exposed to
relevant information that proves your product is the best solution for their needs.
This could be through case studies, testimonials, or ungated tool trials. In the final
stage of the sales funnel, a potential customer will be ready to purchase your
product or service. To do this they will need to be presented with a clear call-to-
action and a compelling offer such as discounts or exclusive rewards.
When a potential customer has made their decision to purchase, they will need to be
nurtured into repeat purchases. This can be done by sending them educational
content that will make it easier for them to use your product or service and by
offering special deals or promotions. Ideally, you will also try to obtain referrals from
these happy customers.
Creating a successful sales funnel can be difficult, as buyers often exhibit
unpredictable behavior that can derail the process. This is why some businesses are
choosing to adopt a flywheel model instead of a traditional sales funnel. The concept
behind the flywheel is that once you have a happy customer, they will continue to
recommend your product or service and bring in new customers for the long term.
